 | The Mirro Company celebrated its 100th birthday on May 10th, 1997. The early inspiration for The Mirro Company came from the Colombian Exposition of 1893 in Chicago, which featured novelties imported from Germany made from this miraculous white metal called aluminum. Two years later, Joseph Koenig rented a small warehouse in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, and opened the Aluminum Manufacturing Company. With the onset of World War I the company turned out cooking utensils, mess kits and millions of canteens for Allied troops. The Mirro line of aluminum ware was introduced on a national level in 1917. The onset of World War II saw the company commit its resources to national defense - producing airplane fuel tanks, landing gear parts and of course, millions of canteens. For more than 100 years, the Mirro Company has been making quality aluminum products.
